Everything Broken: A Star Wars Story (Chapter 12)
I am a peacekeeper. Kidara told herself. She truly wanted to believe it, too. Obi-Wan had told Kidara that their conversation on her reckless force-purging was not over, and every moment she spent waiting was a moment filled with dread. But when have I ever kept the peace? She frowned at the datapad in her hand—a briefing for the next mission she would be on. Everywhere I go, theres a war to be fought, a battle to be won. An undercover mission on Zygerria, to infiltrate the slavers on the planet. Ashoka and Kidara, respectively, would be playing the part of slaves—a gift for the Queen. Who am I if I'm not a peacekeeper. Not a Jedi? Am I just another republic asset? Just another soldier? On Kidaras bed, there was a small box containing the specific outfit she was required to wear to fit the part of a gifted slave. Ashoka was currently in the 'fresher of their shared quarters on the ship, changing into the one she was given. Anakins 'friend' Padmé had helped the group

“Waxer, Waxer you gotta stay awake, okay?” Kidara was trying to tend to his bleeding wounds, frantically using her shaking fingers to try and pry the chest piece of his armor off his body, which didn’t budge. Waxer only hissed in response, clearly in an immeasurable amount of pain. “Stop, stop.” He managed, reaching up his bloodied, gloved hand to reach for her shoulder. “It’s okay, Kidd.” Kidara looked down at him, trying so desperately not to let the tears brimming in her eyes roll down her cheeks. She stepped aside, Waxers hand falling limp to his side as Rex approached them, Kix and another clone—Dogma—trailing close behind. Rex had calmed down by now, his eyebrows knitted together in worry, kneeling to remove Waxer’s helmet. “Waxer,” He spoke, slowly and clearly as the bucket was pulled off. “Tell me. Who gave you the orders to attack us.” Waxer gasped for air, his eyes rolling back into his head. “It,” He took another choked-in breath, his lungs clearly punctured. “It

Umbara was dark, and without proper night-vision gear, was nearly un-navigational. Because Kidara didn't have that gear, Obi-Wan forbid her from entering combat herself. With enough insistence though, Kidara was donning a standard regulation medical band on her left arm. With a med-pack slung across her shoulders, she walked to the landing ramp of the Umbaran base. "Kidara?" Kidara whipped around, the familiar voice coming from behind her. when she saw the older togrutas face, she smiled instantly. "Omara?" Omara was a creche nurse when Kidara was a youngling, and constantly found herself tending to whatever wounds the young padawan had acquired on dangerous missions with Quinlan. "What are you doing off that nutrient drip? And when did you become a medic?" Omar laughed, pointing at the band on her arm that matched her own. "When did you become a field medic?" Kidara laughed. "I'm not allowed into battle. Don't have sufficient gear. And I woke up in the medbay a few

The durasteel walls of the transport were coated in an almost luminous frosty sheen. The viewport of the ship was covered in swirls of frost, the only aspect left visible was the cold remains of the once operating ship. Kidara sat huddled in a corner near the system ventilator, the only source of heat that had long since been in working order. Her teeth chattered, ever so slightly, her breath a cloud of hazy perspiration. Her eyelashes were white, covered in a frost similar to the cold covering the walls and the stiff edges of her robes. she was shivering, violently, and she couldn’t open her eyes. She had tried earlier to stand up and pace back and forth but failed, her joints refusing to move as they locked up. Kidara was frozen. The oxygen in the ship was still plentiful, but without a system ventilator in operating order, the air was stale and would soon become unbreathable. Kidara had tried igniting her saber to defrost some of the ice on the ship, but her fingers

The transport ride to Mandalore is long and exceedingly boring. Kidara tried to spend the majority of the trip meditating, but inevitably gave up when the pilot droid started giving coordinate location updates every ten minutes. She pondered on what meeting the senate representative would be like. Kidara took it upon herself to read about Tal Merrik, but had never met him or the new Duchess, Satine Kryze. All of the information the council had assigned her to read was dated for years prior, which Kidara found strange, but she didn't want to question the council. Kidara supposed she should hold a bit more respect and loyalty to her home planet. She didn't belong to a clan, her birth parents came to the planet seeking refuge. Kidara had no idea if they were dead or alive, not that it bothered her very much. She had heard the story of her "rescue" plenty of times, Obi-Wan had found Kidara was Anakin was just a padawan, and Cody was barely a cadet. She was found in the arms
